Wrought Iron Christmas Tree

There has been a trend in recent years of trying to make artificial Christmas trees a bit more stylish, and more in keeping with today’s lifestyles and tastes. So, we’ve seen fiber optic Christmas trees, ready decorated Christmas trees, singing Christmas trees, pink Christmas trees and more. This year you can even buy an upside down Christmas tree. Now, call me old-fashioned, but that is just plain wrong. There is one kind of artificial tree that’s guaranteed to look stylish year after year, regardless of the current fashion, and that’s a wrought iron Christmas tree.

Even though I’m a fan of wrought iron home décor, having several pieces in my home, I’d never heard of wrought iron Christmas trees until very recently. I decided to browse online to see what they looked like and was immediately taken with their beauty. I love the soft curlicues on wrought iron ornaments, and the trees have a plethora of these. Essentially, they combine a long wrought iron stem with a host of curled branches, starting at the top with small delicate ones, and becoming fuller as they descend. The bases generally consist of four legs, also with soft fluid curves.

Although they are very different from the traditional Christmas trees, there are advantages to having a wrought iron one. I love my tree when it’s decorated; but I hate decorating it! There is always a tussle with the branches, getting them into position, and then the bother of trying to wind tinsel and tree lights around them. It takes ages. It’s also quite difficult to put baubles on the branches, and heavy ones bend them too much. That won’t happen with a wrought iron Christmas tree.

If the thought of a full size wrought iron tree doesn't appeal, then you can buy smaller decorative wrought iron Christmas tree stands, which though simpler, are still elegant.

I’ve mentioned that wrought iron Christmas trees are far from traditional. However, they are beautiful, stylish and hard-wearing. So, if you fall in love with their beauty, you may just decide to start a new tradition in your home!
